In a recent research paper, we examined the factors that businesses need to consider when weighing the potential pros and cons of choosing a public or on-premises cloud platform for AI. We then focused on the details of on-premises solutions and contrasted three currently available on-premises approaches: build-your-own, reference architecture plus services, and turnkey. With each approach, we contrasted two competing solutions: a turnkey approach with HPE Private Cloud AI and a reference architecture plus services approach with Dell AI Factory and NVIDIA.
We found that on-premises solutions are a strong option for deploying AI workloads. Among the three on-premises approaches we studied, the turnkey solution from HPE Private Cloud AI offered an excellent combination of simplified procurement, setup, and management—along with a range of pre-installed, feature-rich AI software and data tools.
